FAQs

What is an elective prenatal ultrasound?

An elective 3D/4D prenatal ultrasound provides a more realistic life-like image than traditional black and white 2D imaging.

2D imaging is optimal for Pregnancy confirmations, basic scans where you may just want to see fetal movement, and of course gender determinations.

Seeing your baby face on the big screen laughing, sucking their thumb, and even making grumpy faces provides for an intimate and powerful bonding moment for expecting parents and their family.

What is the difference between 2D/3D/4D and HD-Live?

2D refers to the traditional black and white imaging that is more like a slice of an image or might resemble x-ray.

3D is the realistic, life like static (still) image of a baby’s face and body.

4D is the real-time movements of your baby rendered in 3D (watching 3D movement as it’s happening.)

HD-Live is the newest available technology and most beautiful rendering of 3D/4D In other words, “New 3D/4D”.

Does this replace the ultrasound at my Dr.'s office?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! This is strictly an elective, non-medical ultrasound service.

You must be receiving prenatal care with a healthcare provider including medical testing and a diagnostic ultrasound as ordered by your physician. This elective ultrasound is a basic scan that confirms heartbeat, position, number of babies in the pregnancy, gender, and 3D imaging of your baby’s face/body.

Diagnostic ultrasounds ordered by your physician screen your baby for any genetic, chromosomal, or physical abnormalities. Our ultrasound service should not be confused with or take the place of ANY ultrasound ordered by your physician.

Is an elective 3D/4D ultrasound safe?

Extensive studies over 35 years have found that Ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harmful biological effects to mother or baby. Multiple scans have become normal, and physicians will order routine scans throughout pregnancy. 3D/4D ultrasound uses the same frequency and intensity as conventional 2D ultrasound used in diagnostics.

Not to be confused with x-ray, ultrasound produces no radiation.

Does insurance cover elective ultrasound?

No. Insurance does not cover elective ultrasound services.

We accept cash, Credit cards, and debit cards accompanied with valid i.d.

We also sell gift cards if you want to pay for a friend or family member and can provide a “Pay on-line” option.

How long will my appointment be?

Appointment times vary depending on the type of service being performed.

From 10 minutes for the most basic type of service to 15-20 or more minutes for gender determinations and 3D/4D. Overall appointment times average 30-40 minutes. During this time will obtain the best possible images of your baby. If your baby is not cooperating, we may have you take a walk, have something to snack or drink and try again.

Can I bring my friends and family?

Yes!

Your family and friends are welcome! This important experience is one to share with loved ones.  Gaze upon your baby’s face or cheer wildly at a gender reveal in a private theater setting. We can accommodate big groups at our locations. Please inform us if you plan to bring a group of more than 10.

Children of all ages are welcome however, keep in mind that children under 3 years of age tend to be fussy and may not want to sit still for long. If you will attend with a child under 3 years, please make sure that someone from your group can look after the child and possibly even step out of the viewing room if needed.

Will I always get a beautiful picture of my baby like I see on the on-line?

In most cases yes, but not always.

We will obtain the best pictures possible for saving and printing!

This service depends on many factors that are out of our control. These factors include tissue density, percentage of body fat, position of the baby, position of the placenta, inadequate amniotic fluid, scar tissue from a cesarean, tummy tuck, lipo, gastro by-pass, as well as the number of weeks into your pregnancy. These factors can lead to poor image quality.

We cannot pose your baby for better images or control the setting present in your body. It is perfectly normal for babies to move their arms, and legs across their face. So, naturally pictures may include arms, legs, and placenta.

Gender determination is accurate in most cases but is not guaranteed. If we are not able to image any of the baby’s facial features at all after 15 minutes, or we are not able to determine the gender; you will be invited back for a free return.

How can I help get the best pictures of my baby?

Staying well hydrated throughout the entire duration of your pregnancy increases potential for better imaging.

Drinking extra water for the 3- 4 days leading up to the ultrasound may also help increase and improve amniotic fluid quality.

Visit us at a time of day when your baby is most active.

Do have something cold, sweet, or tart (Like a lemonade) 10-15 minutes before an ultrasound.

Don’t eat too heavily before an ultrasound, as this may cause baby to be lazy and images to be fuzzy.

What if you are unable to determine the gender of my baby?

Gender determination can be provided at 14 weeks, however sometimes baby’s legs may be crossed, or baby will not be developed enough to make a determination. Certain factors such as position, placental placement, developmental stage, mother’s body tissue content can all affect the ability to determine gender. If we are unable to determine the gender of your baby, we will offer one free return visit. This must be booked within 10 days of original visit.

Gender can be verified as early as 14 weeks. For a more detailed visual experience 15 weeks and above.

What if I do NOT want to know the gender of my baby?

You can still enjoy seeing your baby in real-time without having to know the gender that same day.

We offer a variety of “Secret Gender” options.  Such as, secret envelopes, confetti/powder cannons, and smoke fountains.  You can even take home the Teddy bear/recording of your baby’s heartbeat that same day with a secret reveal box or gift bag!

When is the best time for 3D/4D ultrasound?

3D/4D can be performed across a broad range. Typically 24 to 34 weeks gestation. During the early gestational range, up to 26 weeks baby will be cute, but not so chubby and features tend to be softer. 28 weeks through 34 and baby well be much more developed. Chubby cheeks and fully developed with strong features.

More and more commonly mothers choose to have more than one 3D/4D ultrasound from their second and third trimesters to enjoy seeing their baby’s progress.

Do I need an appointment?

YES! All our services are by appointment only. Scheduling your appointments in advance allows you to choose the exact day and time you would like to visit.

Weekend, Holiday, and Evening appointments are especially in demand, so we encourage you to schedule in advance.

What is your cancellation, refund policy?

We request that you provide 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. We do not offer refunds for booking deposits, or services however, if we are unable to obtain satisfactory images due to baby’s position, we will allow you to come back for a second chance.

Can you tell how big my baby is?

3D/4D ultrasound services are not medical institutions are not allowed to provide detailed measurements for weight, etc.

We only perform non-medical ultrasound we are not able tell you how much your baby weighs or provide any kind of diagnosis.

What happens if you see something wrong with my baby?

Even though we do not provide medical imaging and are not looking for something specific; there are times we may see something that warrants a closer look.

In these circumstances we will contact your physician for follow up.

What kind of Ultrasound equipment do you use to perform your ultrasound?

We have a GE Voluson E8 and E10 machine with HD LIVE technology. GE is the worldwide leader in ultrasound and has pioneered much of ultrasound technology.
